MS Norröna sails to Iceland the whole year - also in winter time

Iceland is a very exciting country to visit, not only in the summer period, but it is also a fantastic place to visit in the winter time. MS Norröna departs from Denmark to Iceland every Saturday.

On the way to/from Iceland the ferry will stop in the Faroe Islands for a few hours, where you have the opportunity to go ashore in Tórshavn and do some seightseeing.

Seyðisfjörður is located on the east coast of Iceland and is the landing place for our ferry MS Norröna from Europe.

East Iceland is rich in history and culture, from early settlement to the present. In every fjord, farm or village, even in the most remote highlands, history reveals itself either in the form of museum, ruins or other historical sites. The east coast of Iceland is also home to the country's largest forest, lush farmlands and a range of small fjords and islands. For more information please visit the Visit Iceland website here or Visit East Iceland here.

The winter in Iceland can be rough, however visiting Iceland in the winter can also be a beautiful experience.

One of Iceland's main attractions in the winter are the Northern Lights, also called the Aurora Borealis. This spectacular phenomenon is to be seen between September and April, and the best chance to see the Aurora is outside populated areas, especially away from bright lights. If you want to check the Aurora forecast you can visit this page here.

Important: If you are traveling with a vehicle to Iceland in the winter period it is very important to have good winter tires. Stay updated on weather conditions here.
